Tim Holtz inspired dress form keepsake.

Hello! Today I wanted to show you a project I made a couple of months ago inspired by a few youtube videos I was watching for inspiration. I came across one showing a tutorial about how to use the Tim Holtz Sizzix 'Sewing Room' Dress Form Bigz Alterations Die. I fell in love with this die as soon as I saw it. Due to the fact that I didn't have a die cutting machine I was unable to use the die, so I used the shape as inspiration and made one myself.

Materials Needed:
Strong Card or Chipboard
An Old Book
Lace and/or Ribbon
Embellishments
Small Glass Jar

Process:
I started by sketching out my dress form shape onto a piece of scrap paper (if you are lucky enough to have the die, then by all means use this and skip this step :)
Once I had my template I used it to cut out the shape 16 times from pages of an old book. I then inked the edges of all the dress form shapes using the Tim Holtz 'Vintage Photo' Distress Ink Pad.
I then drew around my template again onto thick card, but this time added the shape of the stand (approx. 8cm in length). I cut two of these from strong cardstock I found in my stash, but this would work well using chipboard. From one of the dress form stands I cut a vertical slit starting from the middle of the shape to the bottom. On the other, I cut the slit from the top to the middle. I then inked the edges the same as before.
Once this was done I was able to slot the two shapes together to create a 3D dress form. To fill out the bodice, I folded each of the dress form shapes, that I cut out from the book pages, in half and glued the folded edges to the stand using Cosmic Shimmer Specialist Acrylic Glue. I needed four shapes to fit each section of the stand. Using Pin Flair Silicone Glue I attached my dress form stand to the lid of my small glass jar and covered the join by adhering some paper flower embellishments from my stash and some Jesse James: Dress it up Victorian Miniature decorative buttons. I then decorated the glass jar by stamping various sewing images on to the jar using a Jet Black StazOn ink pad. Before securing the lid, I dropped a few colourful buttons into the jar. To finish the keepsake I added some ribbon around the jar lid, tied a length of white lace, taken from my stash, around the middle of the bodice and glued a plastic bow embellishment to the very top to complete.
